Game Art & Design 1
Game Art & Design 1 (GAD1) introduces 3D asset creation, environment modeling, texture workflows, blueprint logic, and game feel in Unreal Engine and Blender.
Unit 1: Foundations & The 3D Viewport
Origin points, 3D cursor, transform orientation, and pivot manipulation.
Unreal viewport controls, content browser, outliner, and details panel.
Model a hero prop in Blender and export to engine.
Unit 2: 3D Asset Creation
Quads, edge loops, poles, n-gons, and deformation topology.
Bevel modifiers, weighted normals, and crease control.
Create a hard surface prop mesh with clean geometry.
Unit 3: Materials, Textures & Lighting
Seam placement, UV packing, and texel density optimization.
Albedo, roughness, metallic, and normal map texture sets.
Author and apply PBR material textures to your hero prop.
Unit 4: Engine Integration & Interaction
FBX import settings, collision setup, and static mesh actors.
Nodes, execution pins, variable types, and event graphs.
Build an interactive trigger door Blueprint in Unreal Engine 5.
Unit 5: Game Systems & Environment
Action, reward, expansion, and gameplay loop design.
Level flow, pacing, sightlines, and greybox layouts.
Greybox a playable level layout with spatial pacing.
